I don’t even know where to begin…. except for maybe at the beginning… which many of you witnessed, and followed, and supported, and loved. And I cannot thank you enough. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you, appreciate you, and commend you. We cannot change the world alone, but a whole bunch of us, working together, absolutely can. And I think this idea was the root source inspiration for this whole adventure. What little itty bitty piece of the puzzle can I contribute, so that the entire world benefits? And how fun it is when I stop to imagine every single one of us, all with our little bitty pieces of goodness, all working together… because, holy cow, that’s a lot of itty bitty pieces. So many, in fact, that the change becomes visible, and good, and lasting. And the word spreads, and the people love & help each other, and this world, our world, becomes a better, healthier and happier place to be. For all of us.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to formally introduce to you “Water Tension : A Web Series”. Filmed and Directed by the one and only Garrett Russell. Garrrrrrr, as he is more affectionally known, is the brave & beautiful soul who pedaled by my side from San Diego, California to St. Augustine, Florida in the Fall of 2010. He’s a film maker, a darn good’n if you ask me, so yes, ladies & gentlemen, this…. drum roll please…. THIS is his film. There’s way too much good stuff, says the Gar, so it’s being delivered to you as an ongoing web series. 16 episodes at 16 minutes each. And we invite you, to join us, on this journey, one day at a time…
Episodes 1-5 were released at the beginning of June, right here, with great success. Episodes 6-16 are headed your way beginning July 1st, and we cannot wait! The word is spreading, folks are getting inspired, and the stories of all the wonderful people we met along the way are coming to life. And what does it all come back to? Lots of itty bitty little pieces, puzzling themselves together, building a greater good, one little piece at a time.
And water. We rode for water. A commodity that most of us Americans take for granted, a resource that much of the world lives without, and, we believe, a basic human right. And thanks to itty bitty pieces and donations from all YOU lovely people in support of our bike ride, together we raised $15,000 for our brothers & sisters in Africa & Asia who have zero access to clean drinking water and sanitation. At WaterAid’s $30/person, there’s now 500 people who have access to clean water and toilets FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES, thanks to you. How radical is that!? And why should we stop there? Exactly. That’s why we’re not. There will be no stopping. This train is moving forward, gaining momentum every day, picking up passengers, tootin’ it’s horn, whistling down the tracks.
Jump on board, my darlings. “Water Tension” Episodes 1-5 are live, right now, on our Water Tension page right here at CyclingForWater.com. Invite your friends, your children, your neighbors, your coworkers, your grandma! All are welcome. And we would be overjoyed to hear any reactions, thoughts, emotions, inspirations, and ideas that spur within you as you join us, pedaling, loving, and learning, 3200 miles, all the way across the southern United States of America.
I can guarantee break downs, heat exhaustion, tears & laughter, and hopefully, if we’re lucky, some freshly blossoming inspiration… Join the conversation. Join the journey. Big love, y’all.
